Mui Wo Pilates

I offer Classical Private Pilates using a variety of Classical equipment including Cadillac, Reformer, Wunda Chair, High Chair, Ladder Barrel, Small Barrel and Spine Corrector. The OG of Pilates equipment allows you to work to the systems fullest potential!

I also offer Semi Private and small Group Classes (up to 3 participants) using Contemporary Reformers and Towers.

I wanted to offer a Pilates practice space that is personal and focused on the local community.

As a mum to be, I would also like to use this space to offer new parents to come to a welcoming place where they can exercise and bring their baby with them. I will be offering speciality mum and baby classes in the future. I have completed a pre and post natal Pilates course and hold a NASM pre and post natal certificate to be able to work with expecting and new mums safely.

Classical vs Contemporary

Classical System and Apparatus

Created by Joseph Pilates in 1920's, the apparatus consists of a variety of apparatus which all work together to ensure you benefit from the system's full potential. It is as close to the original design as intended by J.Pilates.

The reformer consists of 4 equal springs which are somewhat heavier and demanding than contemporary equipment.

We follow a precise order of exercises on the Reformer and Mat depending on your level, and then use other pieces of apparatus which will benefit you most.

You will repeat the Reformer and Mat sequence multiple times before moving onto higher levels. This will ensure you progress safely and build muscle memory and strength required for the work ahead.

Contemporary Equipment

The main difference are the springs, there are 5 and they are colour coordinated reflecting their strength. The various tensions allow us to have more freedom in terms of what exercises can be introduced when, and even throw in some more functional strength training in there, although I try to stay away from the Instagram fitness fads and stick to teaching Pilates.

The Reformer bed is also wider which gives it a different feel all together. The bed is cleverly converted into a mat, allowing us to do mat work on the same machine.

The Tower is essentially the Cadillac without the bed frame. Consisting of Rolling Back Bar, Push Through Bar, Leg and Arm Springs. Adding more variety to your session and also fully benefiting from the Pilates System.
